FIELD TRIP SEMESTER 3

As part of our B.Ed curriculum, the third-semester field trip was integrated with our NSS camp, combining experiential learning with community engagement. On the second day of the camp, our field trip focused on environmental responsibility, aligning perfectly with the core values of the program. Our journey began at 7:30 a.m. as we boarded a public bus to our first destination, Krishnapuram Palace—a historic symbol of Kayamkulam that showcases Kerala's rich architectural heritage from the 18th century, built during the reign of Marthanda Varma. Exploring the palace offered us a glimpse into Kerala’s royal past and traditional craftsmanship. Next, we visited Varanapalli Tharavadu, a site of historical and cultural significance, providing deeper insights into Kerala's traditional lifestyles and legacy. The visit helped us appreciate the architectural and cultural heritage passed down through generations. Our third destination was the mangrove ecosystem near Kayamkulam, where we enjoyed lunch amidst lush greenery. We attended an insightful session by Dr. Mumtaz, who elaborated on the crucial role of mangroves in combating climate change and protecting coastal communities. As part of our NSS activities, we then proceeded to Azhikal Beach in alignment with the theme Youth for My Bharat, Youth for Sustainable Development. In our commitment to sustainability, we organized a beach clean-up drive, reinforcing our responsibility towards environmental conservation. From the beach, we visited the Azhikal Lighthouse, where we enjoyed breathtaking views of the coastline. As the day came to an end, we headed to Vazhakkuzha Kadavu Palam for dinner at a traditional Thattukada. This experience was particularly special as all 47 participants actively took part in serving food, eating together, and sharing reflections on the day's journey. Upon returning to college, the day concluded with a deep sense of fulfillment. The trip was not just an educational excursion but a memorable life experience, blending history, environmental awareness, and community service into a meaningful journey.
