SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PHASE 2- WEEK-4
DAY 16(1/1/25,WEDNESDAY)
Today marked the first day of the final 15 days of our second phase of teaching internship, coinciding with New Year's Day. The day began with a school assembly, where the headmistress extended warm wishes for a happy and prosperous year ahead. Following the assembly, we resumed our teaching duties, picking up where we had left off in the second phase. After meeting with the headmistress and teachers, we handed over the reference register and signed in. In my scheduled class with 8C, I introduced the concept of the area of a quadrilateral, focusing on constructing a parallelogram with the same area as a rectangle. To build a strong foundation, I began by revisiting the properties of a parallelogram and incorporated visual aids to make the lesson more interactive. These aids helped students grasp the concept better and made learning more engaging. The main objective was to help students understand how to calculate and construct quadrilaterals while maintaining a specific area. By the end of the lesson, students could confidently construct a parallelogram, ensuring a smooth transition into the new topic. The session was interactive, engaging, and well-received, and I plan to include more hands-on exercises in future classes to reinforce their understanding. The day concluded on a positive note, marking a successful start to the final phase of my teaching practice.
DAY 17(3/1/25,FRIDAY)
Today, we arrived at school at 9:30 a.m. and signed the attendance sheet at the headmaster's office. During the fifth period, I continued teaching the theory of parallelograms, introducing a student-friendly formula for finding the area of a parallelogram. To enhance their conceptual understanding, I guided them through a step-by-step derivation of the formula, followed by problem-solving activities. For the review and application session, students were divided into groups and given activity cards containing different parallelogram-related problems. This approach encouraged collaborative learning and helped students apply their knowledge in a structured manner. The lesson was highly successful, with students effectively grasping both the concept and application of the area formula. The combination of visual learning, detailed explanations, and group problem-solving made the session engaging and impactful. During the lunch break, we participated in serving the mid-day meal, contributing to a school community activity. After the National Anthem, we left the school at 3:30 p.m., concluding another productive and fulfilling day.
